An Update for the sample, Introduction to CardSpace with Internet Explorer 7.0, August Version

I changed the namespaces in the HTML files from "http://schemas.microsoft.com" to "http://schemas.xmlsoap.org" and deleted the param for the selfissuer.

I also added a text file, named readme_simon_addition_for_the_novemberCTP.txt where I describe the changes I made

Finally I managed to get the CardSpace sample working on Windows Vista with IIS7. Not being an expert with windows, I found some of the solutions quite cryptic! Some of you might even have figured this out, but anyway, few tweaks I did to make this work: - To successfully register capicom.dll on Vista, there are several tweak you need to do. This website has some good information that has worked on my PC: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=152896&SiteID=1 If you can't get to the link, type something like "regsvr32 vista". The key is to disable the 'User Account Control'. Other suggest to copy the regsvr32.dll from XP to the vista box, and use that to register the capicom.dll. - Depending on how you install the IIS7, the install website VB Script might fail, give you something like 'Cant find default website' error message. This has something to do with the ADSI component not installed, or something like that. Again after some research, apparently the II6 Management Compatibility needs to be installed. If you have not, installl them. (Acknowledgement, I got this info from : http://west-wind.com/WebLog/posts/4924.aspx). - Finally, there is this access control (ACL) problem running the sample. There is no ASPNET user install (which is what I thought should have been there). Anyway, after allowing IUSR user, NOT IIS_IUSR user general read access to the cardspace files (the one in .../website/CardSpace/*) folder, I finally managed to get it working. I use the Process Mon to figure out the actual user that try to access the sample*.htm files, and it was IUSR. Hope this helps! - F==

I would like to recreate the Cardspace demo with my own certificates. I've been able to create my own root CA private key/cert pair, and use it to sign certificates. I can use it for a https website, but Cardspace complains that it cannot verify it when I try to use it for the relying party. Is it possible to create my own EV certificates using either MS Certificate Services or OpenSSL?
